My daughter is the Post Production Supervisor for a large movie studio in Utah. After we received our digitized test reel back, she sat down and examined the raw footage and compared it to the footage after color correction, image stabilization and debris reduction. She said it was extremely well done (and she would definitely know!). She was also impressed FilmFix included ProRes files along with the more common mp4 files we requested. She told me to send them all of our 27 super 8mm reels, which I did. They came back with the same high quality.
I had done my research before finding this company. Our super 8mm's were the rarer ones with sound, and I knew many companies do not use a process that can capture sound. I also knew a lot of big companies are hit and miss since a great deal depends on which technician happens to get your reels and whether they're new or skilled. Other big companies subcontract out the digitalization so you have no control over where it goes.
I was grateful to know the owner of FilmFix, Nathaniel, would personally be performing every moment of the conversion process. Nathaniel and his wife, Laura, were incredibly patient, very responsive, and kept me appraised every step of the way. They even burned 3 more hard drives for me at the last minute and sent them out the next day. Their prices were transparent, lower than I anticipated, and better than the other companies I researched.
I recommend them without reservation. In fact as soon as I get them organized, I plan to send them our slides and vhs tapes. 🙂

8mm Film Transfer Expert
Simplify - get your films in a "grab and go" format! We transfer 8mm or Super 8 films onto a handy USB stick (or hard drive.)
Hello, I'm Nathaniel. My wife Laura and I are FilmFix — a two person team.
I am the technical expert with a degree in motion picture and photography, from Brooks Institute, Santa Barbara, CA.
First, your 8mm film will be inspected and carefully cleaned. Then, I'll convert it — from start to finish. These days, most all our customers request that digital files be delivered onto a hard drive or USB stick. However, we can put your transfer on a DVD or Blu-ray disc, if you really prefer that.
While staying local is nice, sometimes it's in your best interest to expand further and find the professional experts who specialize in this sort of transfer. Transferring 8mm film -- the right way -- is highly technical and it requires specialized, pricey equipment.
We're very glad you found us! Let us show you why we have a stellar reputation. Shall we get started on a reasonably-priced estimate?
